Obituary - James Wesley Lockett, Jr. James (Jim), 64, quietly passed away on Wednesday, July 31 while under medical care in Fontana. James was born in Kansas City, Kansas. He completed his public school education at Sumner High School. He attended Emporia Kansas State University, where he majored in music education and met his bride of 42 years, Virginia Kay Curtis. He pursued a career in retail and rose to the level of store manager and district manager in several businesses and regions of the country. California was the destination of his last move, where his family lived for 24 years. James had a strong devotion to family and God. His father and mother, James Lockett, Sr. and Cindy Lockett, precede James in death. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Kay; a daughter, Kristina (Armando) Velazquez; four grandchildren, Benjamin, Aubryella, Brennan and Audreyanna; three brothers, Timothy of Topeka, KS, Jerry of Kansas City, MO, and Douglas of Wichita, KS; and one sister, Debra (David) Lunn of Shawnee Mission, KS. James' love extended to his nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will take place in Kansas City at a date yet to be determined.
