Spencer was one of my closest Sumner Football teammates. He played the Offensive Guard position right next to me. I remember the Summer before our Senior year I think it was he lost a tremendous amount of weight and when he returned to school that Fall, I almost didn't recognize him. The weight loss improved his movement significantly and he and I went on to have a great Senior year season working together on the O-Line. This is the first time I have seen that he passed away and I want to express my condolences to his family, friends and former Sumnere teammates and just say "Rest In Peach my friend".  Leonard "Buzzy" Sparks III

I am so happy that Buzzy posted his comments on James Spencer because I had not noticed his passing either. James was mild mannered and had a quiet disposition. However, things changed when he was on the football field as he became tough, aggressive and confident! I don't know and can't call out anyone who had a beef or problem with James. He was an all around good dude that was pleasant to be around. Rest In Peace James and May God bring comfort to your family!
